MSc in Molecular Medicine Graduate

Completing the MSc in Molecular Medicine at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING) in 2025 was one of the most defining experiences of my academic and personal journey. I focused my research on the genetic aetiology of patients with mitochondrial myopathy, combining molecular techniques and bioinformatics analysis to explore mitochondrial variants. This hands-on exposure to next-generation sequencing and diagnostic interpretation deepened my understanding of the connection between genetics and patient care and allowed me to contribute to meaningful research within a real clinical context.

What truly sets CING apart is its supportive, research-driven environment. Students are not treated as observers but as active members of the scientific community. The combination of small class sizes, direct access to experts, and cutting-edge laboratory facilities creates the perfect setting to develop both technical skills and scientific confidence. I am especially grateful for the mentorship I received, my supervisors continuously encouraged critical thinking, independence, and precision, qualities that now guide my professional path.

Following completion of my MSc course I have commenced a career in clinical laboratory diagnostics, where I apply the knowledge and mindset that CING instilled in me every day.

To future students, my advice is simple: take every opportunity to learn, experiment, and connect with those around you. CING offers more than a degree, it provides an environment that inspires innovation, collaboration, and personal growth, shaping you into a scientist ready to make a real difference in the biomedical world as it is highly reputable in Cyprus and internationally.
