Quality/Accreditation

The Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics is committed to offering professional services of the highest quality, in full compliance with its quality management system. The services provided are characterized by high quality standards in all aspects and at all levels (i.e. highly trained personnel, special treatment/patient care, clinical equipment, environment, etc.).

The procedures and policies followed by CING personnel comply with the requirements for quality control and competences, where applicable, as these are specified in the International Standards CYS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and CYS EN ISO 15189:2012, in the College American Pathologists (CAP) procedures and in the CHKS Healthcare Accreditation Standards.

The Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director, the Technical Managers, the Quality Managers, the Internal Audit and Quality Assurance Committee for the Laboratories and the Clinical Committees (Governance, Audit and Quality, Drugs and Therapeutics, Academic) for the Clinical Sector, ensure that this is achieved during the process of work performed on a daily basis within the CING premises as a whole.

The Health, Safety and Quality Office is responsible for the development, implementation and support of programs and procedures in compliance with the CING’s ISO and other Certifications and Accreditation programs. Through the Office, compliance and effectiveness of the CING quality management system with the requirements of accreditation standards are overseen and ensured its continuous improvement.

In January 2023, the CING obtained the certification for the ISO 50001:2018 standard regarding its energy management system and is now committed to implement energy conservation practices and its contribution to the green house effects as part of its culture. The CING’s Technical Services in cooperation with the assigned Energy Management Committee (EMC) and the Health & Safety and Quality Officer will coordinate through this system, the organization’s energy consumption via a structured way for all of its stakeholders i.e., staff, students, patients, suppliers, external partners and others.

Since 30 January 2019 CING has been awarded with the accreditation certificate of CHKS for its processes and standards which meet international best practice standards regarding healthcare services

In January 2023, the CING obtained certification according to the ISO 50001:2018 standard for energy management. Through this effort, energy consumption will be monitored via a structured way for all of its stakeholders i.e., staff, students, patients, suppliers, external partners and others. Within eight months, the CING’s Technical Services in cooperation with the assigned Energy Management Committee (EMC) and the Health & Safety and Quality Officer have managed to define the organization’s energy footprint, to implement various measures and to undergo a series of external evaluations by established accreditation bodies. Being an ISO 50001:2018 organization, CING now is able to maintain and improve its energy efficiency and at the same time reduce energy costs, thereby substantially contributing to the protection of the environment. In the long run, the advantages of the implementation of the energy management system will impact on energy conservation and the functionality of the Institute, in line with the Institute’s responsible social policy.
