The CING does not offer undergraduate courses.
The Application Period for all CING postgraduate programmes begins from late January and ends in June every year. Precise dates are announced online. Meanwhile, you can create a CING Members Registration account in preparation for the application procedure.
Applications are made online, via the School’s website
Applicants can easily create an account in the Members Registration area (username and password) and submit all documentation online (scanned). Please note that a new account using a different email address must be created for each application. For example if you want to be considered for both the MSc Medical Genetics and the MSc Molecular Medicine, then you must complete the Members Registration process twice, so as to create two individual User Accounts, with a different email address for each one.
The application fee required for processing each application is €40 paid online via JCC.
MSc Programmes in Molecular Medicine / Medical Genetics / Neuroscience
€8,000 (either full time or part time mode of study)
MSc Programme in Biomedical Research
€10,550 (either full time or part time mode of study)
PhD Programmes
The total value of the PhD programmes amounts to €20,750 however, all successfully accepted and enrolled PhD students will only be required to pay the tuition fees for the 1st year amounting to €5,450. This is due to the fact that the fees for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of study are covered by the Institute for all PhD students. In addition to the above, various types of scholarships are available specifically for PhD students, for years 2, 3 and 4 which may cover costs of consumables and/or a monthly allowance and/or tuition fees.
The exact amount and number of scholarships offered is always subject to the yearly budget of the CING’s Postgraduate School.
- A Bachelor's degree from a recognised accredited institution, in a related field. All candidates are encouraged to apply and the two Admissions Committees will determine whether the degree held is considered relevant or not.
- English Language (the CING accepts any of the accredited tests e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, G.C.E., Proficiency (minimum passing grade). For candidates who have graduated from an English-speaking University, there is no need to submit an English Language Certificate).

References are submitted online by your Referees. - Academic Transcripts
An official transcript or a certified copy of the subjects/modules studied during a previous degree/s should be submitted directly by the previous academic institution at which you were a registered student. This transcript should include the marks/grades given for each subject/module. In the instance where you are in the process of completing your degree, you should ask the University to submit a transcript of the grades awarded in the previous years, directly to us. - English Language Certificate (if English is not your first language)
The CING postgraduate School accepts any of the accredited tests e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, G.C.E., Proficiency (minimum passing grade). Submitted test certificates must be no older than three years preceding the date of application to the CING. If you have graduated from an English-speaking University, there is no need to submit an English Language Certificate.
Once you have completed your online application procedure and submitted all scanned documents, the Admissions Committees for each programme will study your application and decide as to whether to invite you for an interview. The purpose of the interview (which will either be in person or viaZoom/Skype), is to determine your ability to undertake the rigor of the MSc/PhD programme and to provide you with feedback on the Faculty’s views of your potential for completing the MSc/PhD programme, you have applied for. The Admissions Committee selects and decides on the successful candidates.
Thereafter, you will receive notification of the outcome of your application and interview. If you are offered a place on a programme, which you subsequently accept, you will be invited to proceed with the formalities of your registration.
Publicly-Funded Grants
CING students are entitled to apply for a publicly-funded grant based on the Government’s assessment criteria.
CING Scholarships
A number of full and partial scholarships to cover tuition fees are awarded to MSc and PhD students based on academic criteria. Tuition fee scholarships are often provided to international students. Enquire with the Education Office.
In addition to the above, various types of scholarships are available specifically for PhD students, for years 2, 3 and 4 which may cover costs of consumables and/or a monthly allowance and/or tuition fees.

The CING’s postgraduate School provides a preparatory course called, Introduction to Molecular Biomedical Sciences, providing necessary background information for the main courses. Attendance is compulsory for course participants from non-biomedical sciences backgrounds, is highly recommended for participants whose biomedical education took place at non-English-speaking institutions or ended a few years ago, and may benefit anyone registered for the main CING postgraduate programmes.
The course has a duration of three-weeks and takes place over the summer period, before the beginning of term. If the Academic Committee makes you a conditional offer based on attending and passing the preparatory course, then this course will be mandatory for you.
All Programmes use the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) which takes into consideration the workload for: a) class attendance, b) homework and c) exam preparation.
If you believe you are entitled to ECTS Exemptions, please bear in mind the following:
- From an MSc to an MSc, a maximum of 1/3 of courses can be recognised
- For PhD studies, a maximum of 3 courses can be recognised. The 60 ECTS units for PhD research years will be broken down to 6 X 10, in order to allow students to transfer 10 ECTS units, if waived courses from previous degrees can be recognised, thus, a minimum of 2 taught courses should be selected by the candidates.
For all queries and advice, the Education Office will be your first point of contact during your application period and also during your studies. The Education Office will direct you towards the member of staff who will be able to address your queries and provide the advice you need. Thereafter, it is important to know that all MSc and PhD Students will be assigned an Academic Advisor and a Research Advisor, who will guide you in matters relating to your studies and in any other academic issues.
Entry Requirements and Travel Documents
Traveling to Cyprus requires certain documentation which varies, depending on your nationality.
A valid passport is required for a stay of up to 90 days for all tourists, except EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway citizens, who may enter Cyprus with the use of their national identity card provided that it bears a photo. Some non-EU third country nationals require a visa. Further detailed information can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
Legal Points of Entry
The legal ports of entry into the Republic of Cyprus are the airports of Larnaca and Paphos and the ports of Larnaca, Limassol, Latsi and Paphos, which are situated in the area under the effective control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. Entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus via any other port or airport in which the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control (Turkish occupied areas) is illegal.
Diplomatic Missions of the Republic of Cyprus Abroad
Detailed information regarding the Embassies and High Commissions of the Republic of Cyprus abroad can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
All E.U. students who have a European Medical Card E111 are entitled, upon presentation of the card, to free medical and pharmaceutical care by public hospitals in Cyprus.
Non – E.U. students, as well as E.U. students who do not possess the above mentioned card, must obtain private medical insurance for in-hospital and outpatient medical treatment in Cyprus.
NON – E.U. students will also need to obtain private medical insurance immediately upon arrival in Cyprus as it is a requirement to obtain a VISA.
Students can choose from a great range of private apartments and houses within walking distance of the CING. The Education Office may assist students in finding accommodation for the duration of their studies.
The CING is committed to treating all students with special needs as equal to all other students; therefore, every effort is made to offer practical solutions to specific needs, such as access to the CING facilities, or assistance on academic issues. COMING FROM PAPHOS, LIMASSOL, LARNACA
Coming from the Limassol/Larnaca-Nicosia highway, keep to the left hand lane when approaching the main roundabout under the bridge and take the 1st exit. Go straight ahead, past Orphanides supermarket (on your left), Metro supermarket (on your left) and Jumbo Toy Store (on your right) until you reach the T-junction at the top of the hill at Makedonitissa, where you will have Ayios Panteleimon Church on your right (you will pass several roundabouts and traffic lights along the way). Turn right on to Iroon Avenue and go straight ahead (pass Makedonitissa Palace on your right and Tymvos Cemetery on your left). Just after the University of Nicosia (on the right), and following a sharp bend, the entrance to the Institute is on your left.
COMING FROM NICOSIA CENTER
At the traffic lights where Likavitos Police Station is situated, with Debenhams “Central” and Cyprus Airways on your right, go straight ahead on to Spiros Kyprianou Street (previously Santa Roza Street), which then becomes Griva Digenis Street (pass Costa Coffee, Starbucks, Ariston patisserie, Kykkos’ Metochi, Alfa Mega supermarket, McDonalds and Hilton Park Hotel), until you reach the Kolokassides roundabout at the end of the road.
Take the 1st exit and then immediately on your right you will see the entrance of the Institute.
COMING FROM TROODOS MOUNTAINS
Coming from Troodos Mountains, follow directions towards Nicosia and exit the highway towards Makedonitissa. From Iroon Avenue you go straight ahead (pass Makedonitissa Palace on your right and Tymvos Cemetery on your left). Just after the University of Nicosia (on the right), and following a sharp bend, the entrance to the Institute is on your left.
