PhD Graduate 

My journey with the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) began with an MSc in Medical Genetics (2017–2018) and continued seamlessly into a PhD in the same programme (2018–2023). For my MSc research project, I was hosted by the Molecular Genetics, Function and Therapy Department, while my PhD work took place in the Neurogenetics Department. Experiencing two distinct CING departments was incredibly rewarding as it allowed me to explore diverse research areas, deepen my understanding of various genetic disorders, and develop a wide range of valuable laboratory skills under the guidance of inspiring mentors.

Currently, I am continuing my research as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Neurogenetics Department, expanding on the work I began during my PhD. Throughout my time at CING, I had access to state-of-the-art laboratories and the opportunity to participate in both local and international scientific conferences. These experiences, along with networking with researchers from around the world, have been significant in shaping my professional growth.

One of the aspects I truly value about CING is its open and supportive academic environment. Students have a real voice — any concerns, ideas, or suggestions can be shared with the student representatives, who bring them forward during representatives’ meetings with the Dean and the Education Office. This active dialogue ensures that student feedback is genuinely heard and addressed promptly, reflecting CING’s dedication to the well-being and development of its students.

I wholeheartedly recommend CING’s postgraduate and postdoctoral programmes to anyone eager to work in a dynamic environment where education, healthcare, and cutting-edge research come together.
