My academic and professional journey at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING) has been truly transformative. I began my Master’s in Molecular Medicine in 2013, under the Molecular Genetics, Function and Therapy Department, and continued with my PhD in 2015 in the Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Department. My doctoral research focused on the development of non-invasive prenatal diagnosis for β-thalassaemia, a topic I further explored during my postdoctoral fellowship at CING. These years provided me with invaluable scientific training, mentorship, and the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. The experience not only strengthened my research and analytical skills but also inspired a deep commitment to advancing genetic research with real-world clinical impact. I am now proud to continue my journey at CING as an Associate Scientist, contributing to the same institute that shaped my career. To new students beginning their studies at CING, my advice would be to embrace every challenge, learn from the remarkable people around you, and let your curiosity and passion for science guide your path — CING offers the perfect environment to grow and thrive.
