Research Infrastructure

Open Science is a fundamental principle of European research policy, aiming to make science more open, efficient, transparent, and impactful. Through openness and collaboration, research becomes more robust, accelerates discovery, and gains greater societal relevance. Europe seeks to lead globally in realizing the benefits of Open Science by fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, public engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Realizing this vision requires supportive infrastructure, incentive systems, and the removal of access barriers.
The Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING) embraces this shift by aligning with the National Open Science Policy of Cyprus and supporting the European Commission’s principle of “as open as possible, as closed as necessary.” CING promotes early and open sharing of research outcomes while protecting intellectual property and academic independence. CING’s Open Science strategy is built collaboratively with researchers and includes clear policies for Open Access to both research outputs and its infrastructure.
