The mission of the Virology Department of The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics it to pursue excellence across biomedical research, education, and patient care to advance health equity and welness for people in Cyprus. Since its formation the Department has been a pioneer in virus diagnostics, molecular epidemiology and surveillance in Cyprus.
It is recognized as a trusted partner with a pivotal role in assisting the Ministry of Health in repsonse to outbreaks and epidemics.
Furthermore, by studying the interactions of viruses with the host immune system we aim to unravel aspects of disease pathogenesis with a focus on multiple sclerosis and ALS and apply innovative viral vector-based gene therapy approaches.
