The General Core Facility of The Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics has a vacancy for an Associate Scientist.  


JOB SUMMARY 


The successful candidate will be engaged in the Core Facilities of the Institute and will co-ordinate, supervise and advance the general core facility.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the core genomics services/research of CING
  • Organize the genomics facility
  • Supervise the staff performing the core genomics services and other activities of the facilities
  • Collaborate and support all CING departments involved in genomics
  • Advance its services
  • Harmonize existing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), including policies, reports, ISO and bioethics compliance, consent forms, referral letters)
  • Follow technological and methodological developments in the field
  • Involved in other activities of the core facility (such as small animal facilities, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy)

 

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in any Biological Science, Chemistry or closely related field 
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages

 

Primary advantage

  • Hands-on experience in genomics mainly wet lab, pipelines, automation and interpretation of Whole Exome Next Generation Sequencing data 

 

Additional advantage

  • Experience in small animal facilities or flow cytometry or confocal microscopy
