Biography

Dr Ververis was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. He is employed as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neurogenetics Department at CING since 2015, and his main present project deals with the functional study of a novel point mutation that might be the causative factor for the development of a type of distal hereditary motor neuronopathy. He served as Project Manager in the BIORISE H2020 funded project for the establishment of a core Bioinformatics Group at CING, being responsible for various project management tasks.
His PhD project involved the functional characterization of the novel proteins KATNAL2 in mouse cells. The results of this research proved that Katanin-like proteins regulate cell division and ciliogenesis. During his MSc dissertation “Genetic study of Greek partridges” he established the appropriate genetic markers for the identification of the various subspecies of partridge in the Greek fauna, by genotyping various microsatellite loci.
