Services/Projects that can be supported by the Translational Facility

The facility supports basic and clinical research programs by performing mass spectrometry-based analyses of proteins and peptides (identification and quantification) as well as small molecule identification/quantification. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art  instrumentation and software for qualitative (e.g. protein identification), quantitative proteomics analysis (e.g. relative quantification) and post-translational modification (PTM) analysis as well as small molecule analysis.

The facility provides the following services:

 1.    Mass Spectrometry-based proteomics analyses

  •  Shotgun proteomics analysis for protein identification
  • 1D and 2D LC-MS/MS protein identification technology
  • Relative and absolute protein quantification (labeled and label-free)
  • Characterization of post-translational modifications (PTMs)
  • Targeted proteomics analysis (Triple Quadrupole and TOF-MRM)
  • Molecular weight determinations of recombinant and isolated proteins

2. Native MS analysis of proteins and protein complexes, including protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions

3. Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry (IM-MS): The combination of Ion mobility with MS, provides a platform capable of addressing a wide variety of analytical challenges. A particularly powerful application of IM–MS lies in its ability to size particles of defined m/z values through measurement of their collisional cross section (CCS). This technique is utilized to study the conformation of biomolecules in the gas–phase with the potential to provide low resolution structural information.

Available instruments:

  • MALDI Synapt G2-Si HDMS with ETD capability
  • Xevo TQD MS
  • nanoAcquity UPLC with 2D technology
  • Acquity UPLC I-Class
  • Agilent 3100 OFFGel fractionator
