Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Training

Training

Laboratory Training

The Molecular Genetics of Thalassaemia Department employs advanced molecular techniques and provides high-quality services, which have successfully established it as an international reference centre in its field. In consequence, a large number of foreign and Cypriot scientists visit the laboratory for training purposes either through personal initiative or through the activities of various thalassaemia organisations. Moreover, undergraduate students frequently carry out projects in the laboratory as part of their final-year thesis, and doctoral candidates receive their PhD training in the research projects of the department.

Hybrid Courses

The Molecular Genetics of Thalassaemia Department has established the CING as a certified remote training centre for Hybrid Courses run by the European School of Genetic Medicine, regularly organises local transmission of these high-profile remote lectures and assembles a programme of local complementary workshops. The next forthcoming event, with local contribution from several departments of the CING, is the 23rd Course in Medical Genetics, to be transmitted and organised locally and free of charge to participants from 23-28 May 2010.
