CSMM Committees and Departments Responsible for International Relations and Mobility Programs

The Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine (CSMM) commenced operation in the academic year 2012-13 as a postgraduate school of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) which was established over 20 years ago. The CSMM shares the premises of CING and therefore apart from its full-time staff, also has access to Departments of CING which play a role in the implementation and organization of mobility projects where CSMM and CING are hosts or senders, to ensure a successful exchange. The responsible departments and committees are as follows:

CSMM International Relations and Student Affairs services (as part of the Education Office): The operational, administrative and communications tasks from the application procedure through to induction and duration of exchange and post-exchange follow-up are responsibilities of the CSMM’s International Relations and Student Affairs services (as part of the Education Office). Email: csmm@cing.ac.cy    Phone: +357 22 392 840.

CSMM Faculty:  For matters of mentoring and academic representation, the Faculty of the CSMM will be consulted. A CSMM Faculty member will also be appointed as a “mentor/coordinator” for outgoing and incoming students and will be responsible for maintaining contact and monitoring the student’s progress throughout the exchange period. Email: csmm@cing.ac.cy    Phone: +357 22 392 840.

CSMM Academic Committee: Matters concerning ECTS exemptions will be approved by the CSMM Academic Committee.  Email: csmm@cing.ac.cy    Phone: +357 22 392 840.

CING Personnel Office: The CING’s Personnel Office will provide assistance with staff mobility. The Personnel Office will have the following responsibilities:

• Appointment of a “home-institute mentor” for outgoing staff members, who will be responsible for maintaining contact and monitoring progress throughout the exchange. For staff members, their departmental Manager will usually have this role

• Recognition of periods spent abroad by CSMM staff as a positive reflection on their career and part of their continuous professional development. Therefore, staff will be encouraged by the Personnel Office to participate and gain international exposure

• The Personnel Office will provide briefing sessions with staff on their return from mobility programs, to assess the outcomes, which can be taken into account for staff assessments, CPD and used for structural reform

• The Personnel Office will ensure that staff members’ achievements will be used as a positive example and communicated via the websites, social media and newsletters, as well as with presentations where they can share their experiences with colleagues. Where the mobility program has led to staff members gaining new knowledge in a specific area of expertise useful to other colleagues, the Personnel Office will arrange for the mobile staff member to lead training sessions and in effect transfer their newly gained expertise to colleagues.

• Contact for staff mobility matters: Email verak@cing.ac.cy   Phone +357 22 392 724.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

All CSMM students and staff are eligible to participate in the ERASMUS+ program (KA1). The students and staff who are interested to participate in the program, must submit all relative forms in order to officially express their interest, at the latest, by the end of December of the previous academic year.  All applications will be evaluated based on a set of selection criteria which are described below. Students and Staff may also officially submit their interest for participation in the program, at a later stage, but priority will be given to the applicants who have submitted their interest, by the end of December of the previous academic year.
