Dr. Athina Theodosiou is the Bioinformatician of the Cytogenetics and Genomics Department at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING). The Department offers diagnostic services, research and educational programs and also has double accreditation from the College of American Pathologists and with ISO 15189.
Dr. Theodosiou was born in Nicosia and has obtained her BSc in Biology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2005, a MSc in Bioinformatics from University of Manchester in 2006 and a PhD in Bioinformatics (PhD thesis: Probing the role of rare codons in coding sequences of Escherichia coli) in 2015 from University of Cyprus.
She was employed at the Department of Cytogenetics and Genomics in 2014, as Laboratory Scientific Officer and involved in several research projects of the Department including Exome and targeted NGS analysis as well as the PGS bioinformatics analysis. Moreover, she is involved in many research grant proposals of the Department. She is also a lecturer at the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine (CSMM) contributing to the Bioinformatics course offered by the Bioinformatics group at CING.
She is participating in many Bioinformatics workshops and conferences and she has recently joined the organising committee of the Hellenic Bioinformatics conference.
