Education
The Department of Clinical Genetics and Genomics acts as a training centre for healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses and scientists. We are active in various local and international committees and networks that foster the exchange of experience, policies and practices between relevant experts, healthcare providers, and stakeholders acting in the field of Clinical Genetics.
Members of the Department of Clinical Genetics and Genomics contribute to postgraduate education at CING by delivering lectures in various academic courses and participating in thesis examination committees. We host and supervise MSc and PhD students providing opportunities to engage in our ongoing research projects related to the conditions of focus within the Department. Additionally, our genetic counsellors facilitate clinical placements for students from international universities as part of their postgraduate degree in Genetic Counselling.
Finally, we actively contribute to raising awareness about the significance of genetic services including genetic counselling and ensuring equitable access to genetic healthcare services for all individuals. We share information about our services and research through oral presentations at public events, collaborative initiatives with patient support groups, and the publication of newspaper/newsletter articles. In addition, educational content on rare diseases is disseminated through social media platforms, particularly in the lead-up to Rare Disease Day, a global awareness event held annually on the last day of February.
