In this presentation, I will provide a perspective of the relevance of epigenetic alterations, focusing on DNA methylation, in the context of immune-disease. DNA methylation changes can occur in response to extracellular factors and associate with aberrant cell function and clinical outcomes. Our recent studies in a rare primary immunodeficiency exemplify how we can use single cell omics strategies to dissect the determinants of epigenetic dysregulation in immune-mediated disease that can be extended to other examples of genetically complex diseases.
