Department of Post-Graduate Studies

Education is one of the three main pillars of The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. Through academic programs new scientists are bred and, in parallel, important research is produced.

The Department of Post-Graduate Studies was established in 2010 in order to accommodate the increasing educational activities at CING. Over the years, CING has established collaborations with universities in Cyprus and abroad and as a result, many students have received their postgraduate degree (PhD and MSc) through completion of their thesis at CING.

At a national level, CING is considered today to be the most advanced tertiary medical academic centre in our country in the heath sector, providing education and training to doctors, scientists and paramedical personnel.

At the PhD level, CING has been recognized for the completion of doctoral work from a number of universities, mainly from Greece and UK as well as from other countries, for the development of doctoral theses. More than 20 students are currently working towards their PhD degree in the Institute. Moreover, in September 2010 CING, together with the University of Cyprus, have developed and provide a joint post-graduate program in Medical Genetics at MSc and PhD levels. The Postgraduate Program MSc/PhD in Medical Genetics is carried out in collaboration with the University of Cyprus, following a written agreement which was signed by both institutions on the 1st of June 2006.

Finally, CING has recently been approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture to establish a postgraduate school, “Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine”, which will provide postgraduate programs in Medical Genetics and Molecular Medicine, at MSc and PhD levels.
