Biochemical Genetics Department
Accreditation
Since 1995 the department has been participating successfully in several External Quality Assurance and Proficiency programmes organized by ERNDIM (European Research Network for evaluation and improvement of screening, Diagnosis and treatment of Inherited disorders of Metabolism) and CAP (The College of American Pathologists). The department was accredited in 2014 according to ISO 15189 (Certificate no. L061) by the Cyprus Organization for the Promotion of Quality (CYSAB). The department continues to be accredited with ISO15189:2012 since the 14th of January 2016.
The Head of the department is the National Representative for Cyprus in the Eurogentest Project which aims to harmonize laboratory testing in the field of Biochemical Genetics across the EU ensuring the provision of high quality services.
